Hi there, have just read your article and have found it somewhat frightening!. I arrived home from a mornings shopping to find a note in my letter box from the council saying that we had an anomoly with our water supply and could we contact them asap. Well no sooner had I got off the phone two women were at my front door wanting to test our water, once they had finished it was established that our supply had been connected wrong and we had been drinking, bathing, cooking, basically doing everything with recycled water!. We had numerous different council people at our place this afternoon from lab technicians to plumbers trying to rectify the problem and depending on whom you spoke to you got a different answer as to how serious this actually was. At first the women who took the inital samples told us to cease using the water immediatly and got us bottled water to use, but as other employees arrived some said that over a short term period it shouldn’t be a big deal (short term being 4 weeks!) one worker went as far to say its probally better to drink than the normal supply!.
I insisted that we talk to QLD health who told me that they were conducting their own investigation into the safety of this water (they are running tests in their own independent forensic labs) with results due within the next few weeks. As for me and my family we were advised by QLD health to see our GP for testing and asked questions about our well being since we have been drinking from this supply (incidently my husband and I have had stomach issues for the last few weeks)
So there it is from someone who it has happened to! very grossed out by the whole thing and will post any updates!

  • Fantastic blog.Really thank you! Really Cool.

  • I’m hearing you coomeramum! We had the council guys here yesterday testing our water supply, so obviously there’s some concern that it may not be isolated to your area. Our’s came up clean according to the test. The fact that you’ve been drinking and bathing in this stuff for 4 weeks is aweful. I wouldn’t be happy either. Keep us posted.
