Life
What’s really important to you?
In today’s world, most of us are so focused on the daily grind, making ends meet, being too busy, that we’re oblivious to the fact that we’re not living. Not really living our lives. We’re working at getting by and focusing on stuff that doesn’t really matter – not in the grand scheme of things, and sadly, waiting for the day we can retire and start enjoying life.
Ask yourself what is important to you? I mean really important. Take a few minutes and think about it. I think most of us skip around this question ignoring it and pretending everything’s ok – but knowing deep inside ourselves that it’s not. I think that for most of us, if we keep ourselves busy doing ’stuff’ then we can keep ignoring and pushing down the sadness and the despair caused by not being able to really live our lives as we were born to.
We currently have a health epidemic of cancer (as well as many other diseases) that is worsening – claiming the lives of young and old alike. In my old job as a telemarketer, I used to speak to between 200 and 300 people per day and I spoke to many people every day who were in treatment for cancer or were looking after a family member with cancer. There truly is an epidemic out there.
You really must look at this issue seriously. If you don’t have your health, life can get pretty horrible and really not be worth living! If you were diagnosed with cancer tomorrow, would all the other ’stuff’ matter? You can ignore the implications of ignoring the potential problem – but only until it affects you and there’s a really good chance that it will if you ignore it. In fact it’s almost guaranteed. No one in our society gets through life untouched by cancer these days. Imagine what it would be like if you, your partner or even worse, your child, was diagnosed with cancer. If you choose to ignore it and not start learning the ways of preventing it, then you’re asking for trouble and sadly it will play a part in your life! No one else can look after your health. If you don’t look after your health, you will unfortunately suffer the consequences! Sadly, our children don’t yet have that option. They rely on their parents for good judgement on what they should be eating, and what products they use to brush their teeth and wash their hair – they don’t have the choice and so when it comes to their health, they suffer the consequences of their parents choices.
Then, when it comes to lifestyle and time freedom, are your kids missing out? Are you missing out? Do they get to see Mum and Dad and spend quality time? or is it a couple of hours over dinner and homework – stressed, tired and into bed only to be shipped off to school, babysitters, or daycare tomorrow? Do you get to spend quality time with those who matter most to you?
There are better ways. Life can be great. Freedom can be had. Great health can be ours.
It might not look from the start like the easiest path, and it might not feel like it either. But in the long term it is the easiest path. Reality is the comparison is between a life with ill health, uncertainty, feelings of no control, fear and lack OR a life with good health, feeling safe, happy, secure and having time and freedom. I know which one I’m aiming for.

It certainly is! I’d just make sure it’s a good quality whey protein. A lot of meal replacements contain all sorts of things that I wouldn’t want to put in my body such as Aspartame. Some of them also have cheap forms of minerals (crushed rock basically!), synthetic vitamins and artificial colors and flavours. That’s just a few things to watch for. What I always do its check out the ingredient list – if there’s lots of numbers – I’d avoid it. Also the less ingredients, usually the better!
Whey protein is ok for any veggie diet that allows dairy products including lacto-ovo, lacto, and ovo types of veggie diets.
