Juicing for health – is it worth the hassle?
It sure is! I’ve been thinking about writing something about juicing for a little while now and I’ve just read a fantastic story on someone else’s site about her mothers amazing recovery from cancer after being given 6 months to live and the part that they believe, her consuming fresh juices every day played in her recovery. You can read the story here.
There are many thousands of people around the world that have cured their cancer against all expectations of their doctors, and for most I’m pretty sure that juicing would have played a part in their regaining their health.
I know that an acquaintance of my Dad’s was diagnosed probably 15 years ago now with a brain tumor and was told his time was limited. I believe he refused treatment and opted instead to buy a very expensive juicer and start juicing. He has been juicing every day since, and he’s still around much to his doctor’s amazement. He still has his brain tumor as far as I’m aware, but it’s never changed and allowed him to continue living his life as per normal.
I also know that a lady who is in the same business as us, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer about 4 years ago. Her prognosis was not good. Ovarian cancer is known to be a silent and rapid killer and by the time she was diagnosed, her cancer had spread to her liver, bowel and another organ (I’m not quite sure which one). She took time off from work to focus on getting well, took large doses of some supplements and juiced every day. Nine weeks later her cancer was gone.
These are only a couple of stories that come to mind. I’ve heard and read many more.
I personally go through stages of consuming fresh juices. I hadn’t done it much for the past 12 months or so, until the last few weeks. I’ve been juicing every morning for breakfast for myself and Ray and we really do notice the difference it makes. I’ve actually stopped it for the last few days because we’re trying Jon Benson’s Every Other Day Diet, but I think we’ll be going back to the juice in the morning. We’re both really missing it and believe the health benefits are amazing.
Our son also has gotten into juicing of late and is amazed at the benefits. He seems to have trouble with what is either a fungal infection or some sort of excema on his finger. When he lets his diet slip, it flares up and gets incredibly itchy. After two weeks of juicing daily, it’s gone and he’s quite amazed. He also finds if he’s feeling a bit foggy or tired, he has a juice and it’s a great pick me up. He’s so convinced he even made me a juice tonight because I was feeling a bit lousy with my cold – it did help!
I know that if I were to be diagnosed with cancer, I definitely wouldn’t be opting for chemo or radiation. I’ve researched and listened and read enough to be pretty confident that if I give my body what it needs and work with it rather than against it, it can rebuild and repair whatever it needs to. If we work with nature miracles can be achieved. If I ever get cancer, I’ll be juicing, taking our great supplements with massive amounts of green stuff and cutting out animal products and all sugar and I’m pretty confident that my plan would work. I hope I don’t ever have the reason to try it out, but let’s face it, there’s a chance that I may. After all my diet’s not perfect by any means and we’re all exposed to toxins and chemicals that we just can’t avoid in our environment. What we can do is to learn as much as possible to stay as healthy as we can, learn as much as we can about how to get ourselves back into a state of health when we do to lose it, and avoid as much of the bad stuff as we can to limit our risks of ill health such as using products without known harmful ingredients that can cause cancer and other illnesses. No one else can do this for us. No one else can keep us healthy. It’s up to ourselves. It’s our own responsibility.
For me I don’t know what the future holds – but it doesn’t scare me because I’m pretty sure I know what to do and that’s a great feeling.
